Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesalahan penggunaan bahasa Indonesia berdasarkan aspek ejaan, morfologis, dan sintaksis dalam karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa KNB (Kemitraan Negara Berkembang) tahun ajaran 2013/2014 di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 11 karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa KNB di Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis isi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat kesalahan pada aspek ejaan, meliputi (1) kesalahan pemakaian huruf, (2) kesalahan penulisan kata, (3) kesalahan tanda baca, dan (4) kesalahan penulisan unsur serapan. Total kesalahan ejaan adalah 601 kesalahan atau 23,15%. Kesalahan pada aspek morfologis, meliputi (1) kesalahan afiksasi, (2) kesalahan reduplikasi, (3) kesalahan pemajemukan, dan (4) kesalahan morfofonemik. Total kesalahan morfologis adalah 201 kesalahan atau 6,96%. Selanjutnya, kesalahan sintaksis meliputi (1) kesalahan subjek, (2) kesalahan predikat, (3) kesalahan objek, (4) kesalahan keterangan, (5) kesalahan pelengkap, (6) kesalahan subjek dan predikat, dan (7) kesalahan  subjek dan objek. Total kesalahan sintaksis adalah 165 kesalahan Sementara itu, kesalahan yang dominan terjadi pada (1) tataran ejaan adalah pemakaian huruf, (2) tataran morfologis adalah kesalahan pada proses afiksasi, dan (3) tataran sintaksis adalah kesalahan subjek. Selain itu, jika dibandingkan antara ejaan, morfologis, dengan sintaksis, maka kesalahan yang dominan terjadi adalah pada tataran ejaan. The errors in using Indonesian language in the scientific papers of KNB students of UNY in the academic year of 2013/2014 AbstractThis research aims to describe the errors in using the Indonesian language made by the KNB students of Yogyakarta State University in the academic year of 2013/2014 in their scientific papers, including the spelling, morphology, and syntax. This research was qualitative descriptive. The subjects of the research were 11 scientific papers of KNB students of Yogyakarta State University in the academic year of 2013/2014. The data collection technique was content analysis. The results of the research shows there are errors in spelling, including: (1) errors in using letters, (2) errors in writing words, (3) errors in punctuation, and (4) errors in writing loanwords. There are 601 spelling errors or 23.15% in total. Morphological errors include (1) errors in affixation, (2) errors in reduplication, (3) errors in plurality, and (4) errors in morphophonemics. There are 201 morphological errors or 6.96% in total. The syntactical errors include: (1) errors in subjects, (2) errors in verbs, (3) errors in objects, (4) errors in adverbs, (5) errors in complements, (6) errors in subjects and verbs, and (7) errors in subjects and objects. There are 165 syntactical errors. The dominant errors in (1) spelling are in using letters, (2) morphology is in affixation processes, and (3) syntax is in errors in subjects. In addition, if three types of errors are compared, the most dominant error is an error in spelling.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mempunyai tiga tujuan. Tujuan pertama adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan text-based approach dan product-based approach pada pembelajaran menulis teks recount dan hortatory exposition text. Tujuan kedua adalah untuk mengetahui manakah yang lebih efektif antara text-based approach dibandingkan dengan product-based approach dalam meningkatkan kompetensi menulis teks recount dan hortatory exposition mahasiswa. Tujuan ketiga adalah untuk mengetahui perbedaan kompetensi menulis teks recount dan hortatory exposition text mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode quasi experiment dengan desain pretest-post test, non-equivalent control group design. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa text-based approach dan product-based approach efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis teks recount dan hortatory exposition mahasiswa. Selanjutnya, pembelajaran menulis recount dan hortatory exposition dengan menggunakan text-based approach lebih efektif dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran menulis yang menggunakan product-based approach, dan terakhir adalah tidak terdapat perbedaan kompetensi menulis teks recount dan terdapat perbedaan kompetensi menulis teks hortatory exposition mahasiswa semester 6 Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo. The effectiveness of text-based approach in teaching writing students’ recount and hortatory exposition text in IAIN Sultan Amai GorontaloAbstract This study aims at knowing: (1) the effectiveness of using text-based approach and product-based approach in improving the students’ recount and hortatory text writing competencies (2) the more effective approach between the text-based approach and the product-based approach in improving students’ recount and hortatory text writing competencies, and (3) the difference between students’ recount and hortatory text writing competences. This study employed a quasi-experimental design. This design applied the pretest-posttest, non-equivalent control group design. The results of study showed (1) the text-based approach and the product-based approach are effective in improving students’ recount and hortatory exposition text writing competencies, (2) using the text-based approach is more effective than using the product based approach, and (3) there is no difference between students’ recount and hortatory writing competences in the sixth semester of the English Department of IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persamaan dan perbedaan urutan dan bentuk konstituen klausa dengan memokuskan pada klausa transitif BP dan BI berikut frase nominalnya sebagai argumen dalam klausa. Sumber data penelitian ini berupa teks tulis, yakni novel Le Dernier Jour d’Un Condamné karangan Victor Hugo dan terjemahannya oleh Lady Lesmana dengan judul “Hari Terakhir Seorang Terpidana Mati”. Metode analisis data menggunakan metode agih. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan urutan dasar klausa BP dan BI bertipe sama, yaitu verba mendahului objek. Perbedaannya pada sifat argumen objek. Pada BP objek berpreposisi termasuk dalam konstituen inti sedangkan dalam BI termasuk konstituen periferal. Pada BP, konstituen  Nod dan Np yang berupa pronominal berada di depan  verba, sedangkan dalam BI konstituen Nod dan Noi selalu di belakang verba. Pada tataran frase nominal, perbedaan terletak pada urutan modifikator demonstratif, dan pronomina persona. Pada BP sebelum nomina inti, sedangkan pada BI setelah nomina inti. Modifikator ekasilaba dan dwisilaba dalam BP terletak di depan nomina inti, sedangkan adjektiva yang lebih dari dua silaba, dan adjektiva yang berkaitan dengan warna, agama, dan verba partisif terletak di belakang nomina inti. Sementara itu, adjektiva dalam BI terletak setelah nomina inti. Words orders in French and Bahasa Indonesia clauses AbstractThis research aims at analyzing the similarities and differences of the words orders and their forms in the transitive clauses and its argument, noun phrases, between French and Bahasa Indonesia. The research data resources are taken from written texts i.e.: The novel Le dernier jour d’un comdamné à mort by Victor Hugo and its translation Hari Terakhir Seorang Terpidana Mati by Lady Lesmana. This research uses “segmenting immediate constituent technique” to analyze the data. The result shows that French and Bahasa Indonesia have the same basic words orders in transitive clauses, i.e. verbs precede the object. The differences are found in the characteristic of the object. The prepositional object in French is categorized as the main argument, while in Bahasa Indonesia it is a peripheral argument. The position of Nod and Np constituent, which are pronominal, in French precedes the verb, whereas, in Bahasa Indonesia, they are always placed after the verb. Regarding the noun phrase, the differences are found at the position of demonstrative and possessive modifiers. Their position in French is placed before the main noun, while in Bahasa Indonesia after the main noun. The adjectives with one or two syllables are placed before the main noun and the adjectives with more than two syllables or the adjective related to color, religion, and participles are placed after the main noun. On the other hand, an adjective in Bahasa Indonesia is always placed after the main noun.

Abstract

This research study aims at describing: the forms of the violation of cooperative maxims; the violation of politeness maxims used in Archie speech situation, and the way to understand maxim violations that makes the reading of the comic easier. This study used two data collection methods, namely reading comprehension and note-taking. The result of this study reveals that there is a violation of maxims both co-operative and politeness maxims. The forms of the violation of co-operative maxims are quantity, quality, relevance, and manner. The forms of the violation of politeness maxims are tact, approbation, modesty, agreement, and sympathy. The easier way to understand comics is reading verbal and nonverbal forms.

Abstract

Penelitian ini  bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerjemahan aspek budaya dalam Para Priyayi ke Ein Hauch von Macht, serta ideologi dan teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian ini adalah satuan lingual yang mengandung unsur budaya. Dari hasil penelitian didapatkan 457 data yang diklasifikasikan dalam sembilan aspek budaya yaitu aspek material (122 data), agama (51 data), kekerabatan (109 data), ekonomi (28 data), gestur dan kebiasaan (61 data), estetik dan rekreasi (39 data), politik (28 data), ekologi (14 data), dan pendidikan (4 data). Ideologi yang digunakan adalah foreignisation dan domestication yang digunakan bersama-sama, sehingga TSa memiliki tingkat keterbacaan yang tinggi dan pembaca TSa dapat memahami makna teks serta mendapatkan pengalaman yang sama dengan pembaca TSu.Teknik penerjemahan yang digunakan adalah teknik borrowing (116 data), calque (1 data), literal (199 data) modulasi (3 data), ekuivalensi (7 data), adaptasi (4 data), deskripsi (36 data), reduksi (16 data), dan couplets (74 data). The translation of cultural aspects in Para Priyayi into ein Hauch von Macht AbstractThe aims of this study are to analyze the cultural aspects in Para Priyayi and its translation Ein Hauch von Macht, the ideologies of translation and the translation techniques used to translate the texts. This research was descriptive qualitative. The data were linguistic units containing cultural elements. There are 457 data found in this research, and they are classified into nine cultural aspects, namely material (122 data), religion (51 data), kinship (109 data), economy (28 data), gesture and custom (61 data), aesthetic dan recreation (39 data), politics (28 data), ecology (14 data), and education (4 data).The ideologies used are foreignization and domestication which were used simultaneously, so the TT has a high readability that readers can understand the meaning and get the same experience as the ST readers. The translation techniques used are borrowing (116 data), calque (1 data), literal (199 data), transposition (1 data), modulation (3 data), equivalency (7 data), adaptation (4 data), description (36 data), reduction (16 data), and couplets (74 data).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan, menglasifikasi, dan mendeskripsikan, kesalahan kebahasaan pada surat dinas yang ditulis oleh peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kedawung Kabupaten Sragen tahun pelajaran 2013/2014. Kesalahan  meliputi (1) kesalahan penggunaan ejaan, (2) kesalahan penggunaan diksi, dan (3) kesalahan penggunaan kalimat.    Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah naskah surat dinas yang ditulis oleh peserta didik kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kedawung Kabupaten Sragen tahun pelajaran 2013/2014, sebanyak 128 surat. Teknik untuk pengumpulan data menggunakan metode dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data dengan cara dibaca, diidentifikasi, digarisbawahi, dan dikelompokkan. Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: kesalahan penggunaan ejaan ada 751 yang yang meliputi kesalahan penulisan huruf ada 174, kesalahan penulisan  kata ada 417, dan kesalahan penulisan tanda baca ada 60. Kesalahan penggunaan diksi ada 33 yang meliputi ketidakbakuan diksi ada 3, ketidakkonsistenan diksi ada 11, ketidaktepatan diksi ada 12, dan kemubaziran diksi ada 7. Kesalahan penggunaan ada 20 terdiri atas: pemakaian kata penghubung ada 4, kekurangan unsur dalam kalimat ada 13, dan ketidaklogisan kalimat ada 3. An analysis of language errors in official letters by grade VIII of SMP 1 Kedawung, Sragen in the academic of 2013/2014 AbstractThis study aims to find out, classify, and describe, language errors in official letters written by Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Kedawung, Sragen Regency, in the academic year of 2013/2014. The errors are (1) those in spelling use, (2) those in diction use, and (3) those in sentence use. This was qualitative descriptive study. The research subjects were official letters written by Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Kedawung, Sragen Regency, in the academic year of 2013/2014, with a total of 128 letters. The data were collected by means of the documentation method. The data analysis techniques were reading identifying, underlining, and grouping. Based on the result of the study, the following conclusions are drawn. First, the spelling errors in official letters by Grade VIII  students of SMP Negeri 1 Kedawung, Sragen Regency, in the academic year of 2013/2014 are as many as 751. There is 33 error in diction use, consisting of 3 error in the non-standard use of diction, 11 errors in the diction use inconsistency, 72 errors in the use diction use inaccuracy, and 7 errors in the redundancy. There are 20 errors in sentence use, consisting of 4 errors in conjunction use, 13 error in sentences with missing words, and  3 errors in illogical sentences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) pengaruh penguasaan sintaksis, tingkat pengetahuan tentang teori dongeng, dan minat baca terhadap pemahaman bacaan dalam BSE; (2) hubungan antara penguasaan sintaksis dan pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE; (3) hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan tentang teori dongeng dan pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE, dan (4) hubungan antara minat baca dan pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex post facto. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri se-Kabupaten Sleman. Sampel sebanyak 370 siswa yang ditentukan menggunakan teknik stratified cluster propotionate random sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan angket dengan model skala likert. Uji kualitas instrumen tes menggunakan Item Respon Theory (IRT) dengan program QUEST, dan instrumen angket dengan analisis faktor menggunakan program SPSS. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan secara bersama-sama variabel penguasaan sintaksis (X1), tingkat pengetahuan tentang teori dongeng (X2), dan minat baca (X3) terhadap pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE (Y); (2) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara variabel  penguasaan sintaksis (X1) dan pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE (Y); (3) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara variabel tingkat pengetahuan tentang teori dongeng (X2) dan pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE (Y); dan (4) terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara variabel  minat baca (X3) dan pemahaman bacaan dongeng dalam BSE (Y). The effect of syntax mastery, knowledge of tale theory, and reading interest on the comprehension in school e-books AbstractThis research has four purposes. The four purposes include: (1) the effect of syntax mastery, knowledge of tale theory, and reading interest on the comprehension of the tales in school e-books; (2) the correlation between syntax mastery and the comprehension of tales in school e-books; (3) the correlation between knowledge of tale theory and the comprehension of tales in school e-books, and (4) the correlation between reading interest and comprehension of tales in school e-books. This research is an ex-post facto study. The subject was grade 5 students of state elementary schools in Sleman Regency. A sample of 370 students was established using stratified cluster propotionate random sampling technique. The data were collected using tests and questionnaires with the Likert scale model. The quality of the tests was validated by means of Item Response Theory (IRT) using the QUEST program, and the questionnaires were validated by means of the factor analysis using the SPSS program. The data analysis technique used in this research was multiple regression and followed by partial correlation. The result of the analysis shows that: (1) there is a significant effect of syntax mastery (X1), knowledge of tale theory (X2), and reading interest (X3) on the comprehension of tales in school e-books (Y); (2) there is a significant effect of syntax mastery (X1) on comprehension of tales in school e-books (Y); (3) there is a significant effect of knowledge of tale theory (X2) on comprehension of tales in school e-books (Y); and (4) there is a significant effect of reading interest (X3) on comprehension of tales in school e-books (Y).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan bentuk dan fungsi tindak tutur bertanya dosen dalam proses pembelajaran pada jurusan bahasa Inggris di STKIP YAPIS Dompu. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan naturalistik. Subjek penelitian ini adalah tiga orang dosen yang mengajar pada jurusan bahasa Inggris semester IV di STKIP YAPIS Dompu, sedangkan objek penelitiannya adalah unit tindak tutur bertanya dosen dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa Inggris semester IV di STKIP YAPIS Dompu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) terdapat beberapa bentuk tindak tutur bertanya dosen dalam proses pembelajaran pada jurusan bahasa Inggris di STKIP YAPIS Dompu, (a) bentuk tindak tutur langsung literal, (b) bentuk tindak tutur langsung tidak literal, dan (c) bentuk tindak tutur tidak langsung literal, (2) terdapat beberapa fungsi tindak tutur bertanya dosen dalam proses pembelajaran pada jurusan bahasa Inggris di STKIP YAPIS Dompu, yaitu (a) meminta, (b) menguji, (c) mengkonfirmasi, (d) menawarkan, (e) memerintah, (f) memotivasi, (g) menegur, dan (h) mengapersepsi. Lecturers’ speech acts in asking questions in English class at English Departement in STKIP Yapis Dompu AbstractThis study aims to know and describe the forms and the function of lecturers’ speech acts in asking questions at semester IV of English Departement in STKIP YAPIS Dompu. The research design of this study was descriptive qualitative using naturalistic approach. The research subjects were the three lecturers while the objects were the lecturers’ speech acts in asking questions at semester IV of English Department in STKIP YAPIS Dompu. The results of the research are as follows: (1) there are some forms of lecturers’ speech act in asking questions at semester IV of English Departement in STKIP YAPIS Dompu, such as, (a) literal forms of direct speech act, (b) nonliteral forms of direct speech act, and (c) literal forms of indirect speech act, (2) there are some functions of lecturers’ speech act in asking questions at semester IV of English Departement in STKIP YAPIS Dompu, such as, (a) to ask, (b) to test, (c) to confirm, (d) to offer, (e) to command, (f) to motivate, (g) to reprimand, and (h) to construct apperception.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan tes Strukturen und Wortschatz  berbasis web mengacu pada materi GER (Gemeinsamer europäischer Referenzrahmen) sebagai alat evaluasi keberhasilan belajar mata kuliah Strukturen und Wortschatz, dilihat dari aspek isi (validitas dan reliabilitas soal), aspek tampilan dan aspek sistem.  Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development). Tahapan penelitian ini terdiri atas (1) studi pendahuluan dan pengumpulan informasi, (2) pengembangan produk, (3) uji coba produk, (4) revisi produk, (5) uji coba produk satu-satu dengan ahli , dan (6) produk akhir.  Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Jerman FBS Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta pada semester gasal 2014/2015. Proses validasi dilakukan oleh dua orang ahli materi dan satu orang ahli media. Subjek uji coba terdiri dari: 33 mahasiswa untuk menguji validitas dan reliabilitas produk tes awal, 10 mahasiswa untuk uji coba produk hasil revisi, dan 13 mahasiswa uji coba produk dalam bentuk web.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) penilaian oleh ahli materi diperoleh data: aspek materi diberi skor 3.9, aspek konstruksi diberi skor 4.11, dan aspek bahasa diberi skor 3.83 secara keseluruhan dinilai “baik”, (2) penilaian oleh ahli media diperoleh data: aspek tampilan umum diberi skor 4.3, aspek tampilan soal diberi skor 3.5, dan aspek sistem diberi skor 4.2, secara keseluruhan dinilai ”baik”, dan (3) penilaian oleh subjek uji coba: aspek tampilan umum diberi skor skor 3.64, aspek tampilan soal diberi skor 3.48 dan aspek sistem diberi skor 3.62,  secara keseluruhan dinilai ”baik”.  Hasil penilaian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan tes Strukturen und Wortschatz mengacu pada materi GER layak digunakan sebagai alat tes mata kuliah di Jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Jerman FBS UNY. Developing a Web-Based Strukturen und Wortschatz test referring to Gemeinsamer Europäischer Referenzrahmen (GER) AbstractThis study aims to develop a web-based Strukturen und Wortschatz test referring to materials for Level A1 GER (Gemeinsamer europäischer Referenzrahmen) as an instrument to evaluate the learning achievement in the Strukturen und Wortschatz I course, in terms of the content aspect (test validity and reliability), the display aspect, and the system aspect. The study was conducted by employing the research and development method. The research stages consisted of: (1) a preliminary study and information collection, (2) product development, (3) product tryout, (4) product revision, (5) one-to-one product tryout with experts, and (6) final product. The study was conducted at the Department of German Language Education, FLA, YSU, in the odd semester of 2014/2015. The validation process involved two materials experts and one media expert. The tryout subjects consisted of 33 students to assess the validity and reliability of the preliminary test product, 10 students in the tryout of the revised product, and 13 students in the tryout of the product in the web format.  The results of the study were as follows. (1) Regarding the evaluation by the materials experts, the materials aspect scored 3.9, the construction aspect scored 4.11, and the language aspect scored 3.83; on the whole, the product was good. (2) Regarding the evaluation by the media expert, the general display aspect scored 4.3, the test display aspect scored 3.5, and the system aspect scored 4.2; on the whole, the product was good. (3) Regarding the evaluation by the tryout subjects, the general display aspect scored 3.64, the test display aspect scored 3.48, and the system aspect scored 3.62; on the whole, the product was good. The results of the evaluation show that the developed Strukturen und Wortschatz test referring to the materials of GER is appropriate to be used as a test instrument for the course at the Department of German Language Education, FLA, YSU.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were: (1) to describe the students` portfolios of writing in the English language subject of Kolombo High School of Sleman, Yogyakarta, and (2) to describe the quality of students` portfolios of writing in the English language subject in question. This study used a case study method with a qualitative descriptive approach. The researcher performed data analysis by enriching informationand finding the pattern on the basis of the original data obtained from observation, interview, field notes, and assessment sheet. The result of the research shows that the establishment of the students` Portfolios of writing in English language subject was not appropriately conducted as the portfolio process recommended by the experts due to the limitation of the teacher`s understanding of the assessment criteria, and the analysis of the data collected indicates that the lacks of the students` competences in elaborating the portfolio tasks were due to the limitation of grammar mastery and lacks vocabulary. Nevertheless, the students have improved their writing skills through the drills in elaborating portfolio from time to time.
